Summary

Silicon Ore is one of the basic resources found in the universe. Found in a few places in the galaxy, it can be harvested and processed locally. As a semi-conductor, Silicon is useful in many electrical applications, from transistors to processors. After refinement, other processes can make use of silicon to form complex components.

It is smelted into High-Purity Silicon. It can be refined inefficiently from Stone if a natural source has not been found.

Player Tips & Tricks

While it is possible to process Silicon Ore from Stone on your home planet, this is a highly inefficient and timely method. Most starting star systems have at least one planet with Silicon Veins. Mining these allows for much faster production.
As there is only one use for Silicon Ore, it is best to immediately smelt it into High-Purity Silicon as opposed to storing Silicon Ore.
