Summary

A surface leveling tool. Cannot use it to change the planetary landforms at will, can only level the surface to zero altitude. If you use the foundation for high ground, you will get Soil Pile; on the contrary, if you use the foundation for the ocean or low-lying area, you must consume soil pile. The Extra Products Proliferation bonus applies: using spray-coated Foundation will yield more / cost less soil pile.

When laying the foundation, you can choose a kind of decoration, or without decoration, only level the surface.

Player Tips & Tricks

  • It is good to build a production line for Foundation early on in the game, as the oceans around your starter planet can limit the size of your builds - other than Wind Turbines, which can be placed without Foundation - and force you to compromise on how your factory looks. This can be relatively easily done by finding a location where Iron Ore and Stone veins are located conveniently close to each other, making it easy to transport both to your line. The same holds true for every planet where both Iron and Stone are found, avoiding use of costly interstellar logistics capacity for this base material.
  • Foundation is also extremely useful for oceanic planets and other lush planets, as most resources are difficult to transport via interstellar logistics stations, as there's no space to build them on.
  • It takes exactly 325,600 Foundation to fully pave a planet. In order to speed up the process/make it easier to not miss any sections, increase the size of your fill-in square with the + button.
