Summary
The EM-Rail Ejector is used to propel Solar Sails into an orbit around a star to form a Dyson swarm.
In order to launch a Solar Sail, the EM-Rail Ejector must have direct line of sight to the point the Solar Sail will occupy in the swarm. Therefore, players usually construct EM-Rail Ejectors at the poles of the planet, to ensure continuous operation.

Player Tips & Tricks
- The pitch angle (vertical angle) must be between 5 degrees and 60 degrees to allow firing. When the pitch angle is outside these ranges, the EM-Rail Ejector glows orange instead of blue, and the "Target Status" info will read "Pitch limit" instead of "Active".
- Additionally, the line of sight to the targeted Solar Sail position cannot be blocked by a celestial body (which may commonly occur on satellites of gas giants).
- A sorter can take excess Solar Sails from the EM-Rail Ejector so that they can be fed into another Rail Ejector, either via a conveyor belt or directly.
- Railguns build on the poles have the highest uptime if the correct orbit is selected. Its usually sufficient to tilt the orbit to 180° (or the inverse) and select an orbit that fits the planetary distance to the star- closer planets require smaller orbits, while planets further away require medium-large orbits. To understand what makes a orbit valid see the picture to the right- the trajectory requires direct line of sight, and the entry point needs to be in the right direction of rotation. If set correctly, such an setup will fire for up to half a year nonstop (planet completing half an orbit around the star).
- Railguns can fire 20 Solar Sails per minute, up to 40 when proliferated. Each node in a Dyson Sphere can absorb up to 360 solar sails / min with fully upgraded Solar Sail Attaching Speed. This equals 18 ( or nine proliferated) continuously firing EM-Rail Ejectors per node. Given the average node count of spheres, a player will run out of building space before maximum sail absorption for all nodes can be reached.
