Summary
Logistics Vessels are loaded into Interstellar Logistics Stations. Their cargo capacity is upgradable from 200 items to maximum of 2000 items at Logistics Carrier Capacity 13.
Logistics Vessels base speed is 600 m/s. This is infinitely upgradable with the Logistics Carrier Engine Upgrades, with each level from level III providing a 50% increase on the base speed.
Logistics Carrier Engine IV is required for Vessels to use Warp. Warp confers a x200 increase in speed. Logistics Vessels will jump to and leave warp at 2.5 km from the planet. When using warp a Logistics Vessel will use two Space Warpers, one to get to the destination, and another one to get back to the origin.
Usage
The ability to warp is very valuable, however, it's not always necessary. If you have a small-ish interstellar route (<3 LY), it's viable to have your Logistic Vessels slow-boat it (see equation for exact speed in next paragraph) to your target world. This is useful especially when the route transports only rarer, less-used resources that aren't needed in as much abundance, and thus can have a lower throughput. However, if you desire an equal throughput to a warp-enabled route, you can simply field a larger fleet to make up for the lower individual speed of each ship.
The max speed of your vessels (in m/s) can be calculated with the simple formula 300*n, where n is the current upgrade level; for instance, the speed at upgrade level V is 300*5, so 1500. Remember that one in-game light year is equal to 2400 in-game km. At upgrade level VIII (eight), vessel speed is equal to 3.6 ly/hr (1 light year per ~16 - 17 minutes).
