Summary
The Geothermal Power Station is a power plant which generates energy from the heat within lava or the planet core. It must be placed on top of a pool of lava or a planetary core-drill hole* in order to function, the latter will also drive the relay away if still present. The power production of the Geothermal Power Station varies depending on where exactly it is placed; the optimal placement is in the center of a lava lake, where efficiency is highest. In case of core-driller hole left after defeating a Dark Fog base, the Level of the defeated base determines its maximum output.
Geothermal Power Stations are fully renewable -- they require no refueling or maintenance once placed. This is highly advantageous, especially for small or medium-sized remote outposts on Lava planets.
*You cannot open a hole to the core by yourself, as the Dark Fog will try to randomly open holes in planets without a proper defense as they expand their hives. It is possible to force certain positions for bore holes by restricting the available areas for a planet fall of the relay, be it via leaving gaps in the shielding or covering most of the planet in buildings (for example Windmills).

Player Tips & Tricks
- The closer to the edge of magma pools, the less magma is concentrated and the less energy can be gained; try to place them so that they're in the center of lava concentrations for maximum effect.
- The Geothermal Power Station is a good choice for a quick, cheap, easy source of renewable power on a small-to-medium-sized outpost; it generates a respectable amount of power 24/7 and never needs to be checked on.
- Geothermal used on holes left by the Dark Fog seems to always have an efficiency around 300%, which is much higher than a regular lava pool. This is exceptionally good for planets that you are just mining or making an small outpost. Depending on the number of holes, you might be able to supply your miners and logistics chain on thermal energy alone.
